The MetroStars and Kansas City Wizards reserve teams battled to a 0-0 draw at Giants Stadium on Sunday morning.

There was little action in the contest and Kansas City's Diego Walsh had the only true scoring opportunity of the first half in the 35th minute, when he blasted a low shot that MetroStars goalkeeper Mike Ueltschey was able to make a save on.

In the second half the Metros' offense picked up a little bit when midfielder Ramon Bailey was fouled just outside the box in the 72nd minute. Gilberto took the freekick, and forced Wizards goalkeeper William Hesmer to make a diving save.

The Metros' side was dropped to 10-men in the 77th minute when forward Jerrod Laventure was injured and the MetroStars had no field players remaining on their bench. Five minutes later the MetroStars inserted back-up goalkeeper Kris Cherry into the game as a field player in an effort to preserve the tie.

Cherry did have an impact in the contest however, as in stoppage time he almost gave the Metros the lead when his attempt to chip Hesmer just sailed over the bar.

The best scoring opportunity of the day came for the Wizards and Khari Stephenson, when in the 85th minute he found himself with his back to goal inside the MetroStars 6-yard box. Stephenson spun with the ball and fired a shot that was certain to beat Ueltschey, however MetroStars defender Seth Stammler stepped in the path in the knick of time to block the shot.
