An own goal and strikes by Brian McMahen and Ryan Pore in the first half saw the New York Red Bulls reserves drop a 3-0 decision to the Kansas City Wizards reserves at Giants Stadium Saturday night.

Kansas City jumped all over the Red Bulls from the opening kick, scoring within three minutes of kickoff. A Kansas City midfielder collected a ball about 35 yards from goal on the left flank and lofted a cross into the penalty area. Taylor Graham tried to knock the ball out of danger but it ended up deflecting off his head and into the side netting, giving the Wizards a 1-0 lead 2 minutes into the game.

Kansas City struck again in the 17th minute when McMahen collected a ball off a scramble about a yard outside the box. Red Bulls goalkeeper Michael Behonick got a hand on McMahen's shot, but the ball fell into the goal doubling Kansas City's lead. Pore closed out the Kansas City scoring in the 43rd minute on a penalty kick after Graham was called for a handball inside the box.

The Red Bulls carried the play in the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net. They had the two best scoring opportunities of the frame, as forward Jordan Cila barely missed two chances that went over the bar.
