John Wolyniec scored two goals as Metro defeated Premier Development League's Long Island Rough Riders in a scrimmage, 6:1. Other New York goals came from Juan Pablo Angel, Dave van den Bergh, trialist Francis Doe, and Joe Vide. Using a starting lineup of regulars with Doe, Metro raced out to a 5:1 lead in the first half. Playing with the team made up almost entirely of reserves, Vide scored the only goal of the second.
Doe is a Liberian forward who was most recently with the Greek club Atromitos. In 2004 and 2005, he played a total of four matches off the bench for the Minnesota Thunder. Nicknamed "Grandpa" and "The Serial Killer", he was previously named best foreign player in the Cameroonian league and has at least three caps for Liberia.
The match also marked Mike Magee's first game action with Metro since the 2006 season.
