Ten Best: Metro forwards (update)
November 13, 2007
Since we first looked at the ten best forwards in Metro history, an update has to be made. For descriptions of the initial top ten, see the original article.
10) Mike Magee, 2003-
9) Jozy Altidore, 2006- He burst on the scene when he was just 16, finishing the abbreviated 2006 campaign with four goals. Nine goals and four assists next season followed. Will he have a chance to move up this list before Europe's unavoidable call?
8) Rodrigo Faria, 2001-02
7) John Wolyniec, 1999, 2003-05, 2006-
6) Antony De Avila, 1996-97
5) Adolfo Valencia, 2000-01
4) Juan Pablo Angel, 2007- One couldn't imagine a better first season from the Cherubic Assassin. 19 goals in league play to break Valencia's team record, 20 in all competitions. Angel is the perfect example of what a Designated Player should be and will definitely move up this list with another similarly spectacular season.
3) Youri Djorkaeff, 2005-06
2) Giovanni Savarese, 1996-98
1) Clint Mathis, 2000-03, 2007- Now the all-time leading scorer in Metro history with 45 goals after his unlikely return, he solidified his top spot for any pursuers.
