Training camp survivors
February 1, 2008
Metro's first training camp of the offseason yielded nine names that will joined rostered players and draft picks for the next phase in California. The nine survivors are:
MLS veterans Tighe Dombrowski (D/M, San Jose), Marshall Leonard (D/M, New England), and Bill Gaudette (G, Columbus)
Scott Palguta, D, Rochester (USL), played a game for Metro reserves last year
Teddy Niziolek, M/D, Columbus' draft pick last year from Seton Hall whose rights would have to be acquired
Ricky Schramm, M/F, DC's draft pick last year from Georgetown who briefly played for Metro reserves
Chris Megaloudis, F, Stony Brook product who was recently capped for the Puerto Rican national team
Kevin Mesa, F, local product who signed with FC Schaffhausen in Switzerland but failed to stick with the club
Martin Nunez, F, scored 30 goals in his one season at Georgia Perimeter College
Metro Academy product Matt Kassel might join the club as well, if fears of losing college eligibility are alleviated. Of course, if Metro was to offer him a roster spot, that college eligibility would be moot.
