Ten Best: Metro forwards (update)
October 27, 2008
Since we first looked at the ten best forwards in Metro history, an update has to be made. For descriptions of the initial top ten, see the original article, and last year's update.
10) Mike Magee, 2003-
9) Jozy Altidore, 2006-08 He burst on the scene when he was just 16, finishing the abbreviated 2006 campaign with four goals. Nine goals the next season followed. Three more goals came in 2008, before declaring himself ready and leaving Metro to embark on an European adventure.
8) Rodrigo Faria, 2001-02
7) John Wolyniec, 1999, 2003-05, 2006-
6) Antony De Avila, 1996-97
5) Adolfo Valencia, 2000-01
4) Youri Djorkaeff, 2005-06
3) Juan Pablo Angel, 2007- 2007 was great; 2008 started slowly, with injuries curtailing the Cherubic Assassin. But he recovered in mid-season, and ended with a bang, scoring 14 league goals. Entering the playoffs, Angel's total in all competitions stands at 34. One more year like this, and the top spot -- on the Metro all time scoring chart, and on many of our Top 10 lists -- just might be his.
2) Giovanni Savarese, 1996-98
1) Clint Mathis, 2000-03, 2007
