Ten Best: Metro forwards (update)
November 11, 2011

Since we last looked at the ten best forwards in Metro history, an update has to be made. For descriptions of the initial top ten, see the original article, as well as two updates.

  • 10) Jozy Altidore, 2006-08

  • 9) Rodrigo Faria, 2001-02

  • 8) Antony De Avila, 1996-97

  • 7) Adolfo Valencia, 2000-01

  • 6) John Wolyniec, 1999, 2003-05, 2006-10
Say what you want about Wolyniec, but it's hard to argue with 36 goals, and giving your all every minute you're on the field. Not to forget the all-time spectacular overtime winner in 2003, and the MLS Cup goal in 2008.

  • 5) Thierry Henry, 2010-
Titi might have started slow, but his second season was top notch, as the numerous times took the team on his shoulders to earn points that looked lost. 15 goals in 2011... What will 2012 bring?

  • 4) Youri Djorkaeff, 2005-06

  • 3) Giovanni Savarese, 1996-98

  • 2) Clint Mathis, 2000-03, 2007

  • 1) Juan Pablo Angel, 2007-10
Mathis might be the greatest Metro ever, but Angel is clearly the greatest forward ever. He left the team after obliterating all records, scoring 58 league goals and 62 in all competitions. You'll never be forgotten, Cherubic Assassin.
