The New York Red Bulls reserves played the Philadelphia Union reserves to a 2-2 draw in a Sunday matinee match following the completion of the first team's clash at PPL Park.
New York found itself in an early hole heading into the half after Philly's Antoine Hoppenot found the back of the net in the 11th minute on an assist from Josue Martinez. Less than one minute into the second half, Philly struck again, this time on a penalty kick from Jack McInerney.
The Red Bulls then began to control the momentum, led by second half sub Walter Hines. After a shot on goal in the 58th minute, Hines finished in the 68th minute past a diving Chase Harrison to cut the Union's lead to one.
The Red Bulls continued to threaten late, nearly equalizing on three separate occasions in a six minute span. New York would find their break through in the 88th minute following a corner, as Corey Hertzog knocked home a rebound in the midst of a crowded area.
