Roy Miller encroached on purpose
March 13, 2013

We try not to criticize players too often, unless they do something out of the ordinary horrible. So even after three years of Roy Miller's calamities, we tried to curb our derision. And this was a player who had a hand (hold that thought) in each of Metro's last three playoff collapses... Yet we kept telling ourselves, he is not that horrible, he is not that horrible...

He is that horrible.

The terror that was last Sunday is hard to be believed; first, lax defending on the equalizer. Then, a dumb handball on the penalty kick. Then, idiotic encroachment that nullified Luis Robles' save. All in the span of mere minutes.

But it gets worse. Miller told reporters that he encroached "on purpose, to make sure that the kicker was distracted, and failed the penalty. I did it so that if he made it, he would have to do it again and then miss. I had the unfortunate luck that Luis saved the initial attempt." That's right, he encroached ON PURPOSE, forgetting the obvious fact that if the penalty kick is converted, defensive encroachment will be ignored. Duh.

Mike Petke, we beg you, put an end to Miller Time. Enough is enough.

Apologies for criticizing.
