Cahill, Wright-Phillips named to All-Star Game
July 19, 2014 (Official Press Release)

New York forward Bradley Wright-Phillips and midfielder Tim Cahill were named to the 2014 MLS All-Star roster. Wright-Phillips and Cahill join teammate Thierry Henry, who was part of the MLS All-Star Fan XI, on the squad. This is Cahill's second MLS All-Star Team (2013) and the first for Wright-Phillips.

Through 18 appearances this season, Wright-Phillips is the leading scorer in MLS with 16 goals. The Englishman, now in his second season with the Red Bulls, has scored goals in four consecutive games. Wright-Phillips was named the MLS Player of the Week for Week 8 after a hat-trick against Houston on April 23 and is just three goals shy of the Red Bulls' single season record in the category which is held by Juan Pablo Angel (19).

Cahill has scored one goal and recorded one assist through 11 appearances this season. In his return to MLS regular-season action following the 2014 FIFA World Cup break on June 27 against Toronto FC, Cahill provided the game-tying assist in stoppage time in a 2-2 draw. Cahill, the all-time leading goalscorer for Australia, recorded two goals in this summer's World Cup, including arguably the best goal of the tournament - a left-footed volley against the Netherlands.
