Homegrown player Sean Davis signed
December 11, 2014 (Official Press Release)

The New York Red Bulls announced on Thursday that the club has signed Holmdel, NJ, product Sean Davis as a homegrown player. Davis is the ninth homegrown player signed by New York in club history and joins current homegrown players Santiago Castano, Connor Lade and Matt Miazga on the roster.

The 2014 All-ACC First Team, 2014 ACC Midfielder of the Year and two-time All-ACC Second Team selection has spent the last four seasons at Duke University where he was a NSCAA All-South Region second team honoree in 2014, and was voted Duke's offensive MVP after the 2012 and 2013 seasons. In four years at Duke, Davis amassed eight goals and 17 assists, including an ACC-leading 10 assists during his senior year in 2014. Davis was also a part of the Red Bulls U-23 team that captured the NPSL Championship at Red Bull Arena in August.

'We are delighted to announce the signing of Sean Davis, who is one of the best young players to emerge from the college ranks this year," said New York Red Bulls Sporting Director Andy Roxburgh. "Sean is a gifted midfield player, a star of our U-23 championship winning team, a homegrown talent, and someone with the potential to be a top player for the New York Red Bulls in the future."

Davis spent the 2009-10 and 10-11 seasons with the Red Bulls U-18s after two years with the US residency program. He started 19 games in his first season and missed time due to injury. He still finished 10th on the team in minutes played, and added two goals and two assists. In his second season, he started 31 of the team's 33 games, more than any other player. He contributed one goal, and had six assists as the team collected a 20-6-5 record with him in the lineup.

Davis made 10 appearances for the Red Bulls U-23 team in the National Premier Soccer League in 2014 and recorded the game-winning assist in New York's 3-1 win over Chattanooga FC in the championship game at Red Bull Arena on August 2.
