Metro playoff scenarios (2 games left)
October 6, 2016
Metro's 1-6 start seems like a distant memory, and the summer of blown leads is just a mark on an otherwise fantastic unbeaten streak. The playoff berth is long clinched, so now we need to figure out Metro's options in clinching the all-important first round bye.
Currently, Metro is tied with NYCFC on 51 points, but are virtually guaranteed to win any tie breaker due to superior goal difference. (+14 vs +4. That 7:0 win sure helped!) Toronto is third with 49 points. So, to get the second seed and the bye that comes with it, Metro needs either of the following scenarios:
A win AND a Toronto tie or loss
A win AND a NYCFC loss (provided NYC doesn't make up the goal difference in the last week)
In the penultimate week, Metro hosts Columbus, NYCFC visits DC Scum, Toronto visits Montreal.
