For third time this year, BWP is POW
October 18, 2016 (Official Press Release)

New York Red Bulls forward Bradley Wright-Phillips was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for the 33rd week of the 2016 MLS season.

It is the third MLS Player of the Week award for Wright-Phillips this season. He is one of three Red Bulls to earn MLS Player of the Week honors this season (Felipe, Mike Grella).

Wright-Phillips took control of the Golden Boot race with a brace -- his seventh multi-goal effort of the season -- in leading the Red Bulls to a 3-2 victory over Columbus Crew SC at Red Bull Arena on Sunday. Entering Decision Day, Wright-Phillips tops MLS with 23 goals, while his 67 goals since 2014 are the most in league history over any three consecutive seasons. During NYRB's current franchise best 15-game unbeaten streak, the Englishman has 14 goals and three assists in leading the Red Bulls to the top of the Eastern Conference.

The 2014 Golden Boot winner scored his first goal of the match in the 58th minute with a beautiful cutback in the box, creating enough space from the defender to fire a left-footed shot between the legs of goalkeeper Brad Stuver for a 2-0 Red Bulls' advantage.

Wright-Phillips would complete his brace in the 70th minute to give NYRB a 3-0 lead. Aurelien Collin redirected a Sacha Kljestan corner kick with a header which fell directly to an unmarked Wright-Phillips for an easy tap-in.
