New York Red Bulls II fell short against the Charlotte Independence, 5-1. Junior Flemmings scored the lone goal for New York.
In the first half, Flemmings fired New York ahead in the 21st minute, burying a toe-poke shot at the near post.
Charlotte answered with two goals in a five-minute span, when Jorge Herrera finished a rebound in the 38th minute and Callum Ross gave the Independence the lead in the 43rd on a header.
In the second-half, the Independence rounded out the night with three more goals from Enzo Martinez, David Estrada and Jaime Saij.
