MetroFanatic: Felipe, you probably heard online, there were some rumors...
Felipe Martins: (laughs) Rumors! Rumors are just rumors and you cannot pay attention.

MF: But you must pay attention, that's your life!
FM: I know, but it's just rumors. My job is to do what I do and I leave those things to Jesse and Denis. We're going to training in thirty minutes, so that's what I'm focused on. That's it. (laughs)

MF: It seems really weird, because you don't come off the field, even in preseason when they change the whole team, how would they ever think about trading you?
FM: That's that's what I do for a living. That's what I do with I'm the most passion I have and that's what I'm going to continue to do.

MF: Other players do it for living too, but people joke that you're a robot!
FM: (laughs) For me, it's an obsession. Soccer, for me, it's a way to live. That I'm going to continue to do until I can't play soccer. The thing we did really good in the first game in Costa Rica and we're looking for the Thursday game.

MF: Talk about your journey as a player from Brazil to Padova to then Switzerland and Canada and now here, for the fourth year.
FM: Everywhere I went, I played with the same passion, the same ethic work. It's been a long journey and I enjoy every day and I hope to continue to do it for a long time.

MF: I'm not sure if you follow hockey, but when the New Jersey Devils won the cup 20 years ago, they had a player named Claude Lemieux. He was... a pest. He would get under player's skin.
FM: (laughs) I believe I know well. I don't change the way I am. I don't change the way I will play and I don't change for anybody, nothing! I'm going to continue to do what I do.

MF: Some people consider you the most hated player in MLS...
FM: In life, people hate in love. (laughs)

MF: You're loved by fans here!
FM: Exactly! It's important for me to be loved by my teammates, be loved by my fans, by my club, and what the rest think about me is just what they think. It's not going to affect me.

MF: It seems that Jesse and you are tied at the hip. He comes here, you are the first person he brings in.
FM: Jesse gave me a big opportunity coming from Switzerland. I enjoy working with him. I will always be thankful for everything he gave me.
