Draft pick Wallis Lapsley signs with RBNY II

New York Red Bulls II have signed goalkeeper Wallis Lapsley to a USL Championship contract, the club announced today.

Lapsley, 22, joins NYRB II after playing four years of collegiate soccer for UC-Davis. He is the career-record holder in wins (35), save percentage (.784), and shutouts (21). He led the Aggies to the Big West Championship Match in three out of the four seasons he attended the school.

"We are excited to add Wallis to the club. He impressed us with what we have seen on the field," said Head Coach John Wolyniec. "He is a determined and motivated player, who is really trying to improve and continues to show that he can up his game."

The Seattle, Washington native received numerous accolades, while at UC Davis. In his senior year, he was named to the 2019 All-Big West Team and was named the 2019 Big West Conference Goalkeeper of the Year. He ranks second in program history in goals against average (0.89) and career saves (203). While in high school, Lapsley was named the Gatorade Washington Boys Soccer Player of the Year as a senior and Class 3A Player of the Year as a junior.

Lapsley was selected by the Red Bulls with the 36th overall pick in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft. He participated in both preseasons camp with the first team held in Bradenton, Florida and Tucson, Arizona.
