The Hounds recorded their third consecutive victory as Ropapa Mensah and Robbie Mertz were among the scorers against Red Bulls II on Saturday evening at Red Bull Arena.

Pittsburgh grabbed the lead just before halftime, however, as long ball forward by Ray Lee into the left channel allowed Mensah to muscle a Red Bulls II defender in a 50-50 for the ball and then deliver a finish into the right corner past advancing New York goalkeeper Wallis Lapsley.

The Hounds struck again six minutes into the second half in fortuitous fashion as Red Bulls II defender Preston Kilwien mishit an attempted clearance of a through-ball at the top of the penalty area. It sent the ball looping high in the air and just under the crossbar, as it fell into the net with Lapsley unable to cover.

The Hounds wouldn't be denied in the 58th minute, as Steevan Dos Santos' cross from the right was deflected into the path of Mertz, who coolly finished to make it a three-goal lead.
