Jelani Peters scored the only goal as Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC battled to a 1-0 victory against the New York Red Bulls II on Wednesday night at Highmark Stadium.

After a choppy opening to the game, New York produced the first look at goal in the seventh minute as Jake LaCava fired a snap-shot from the top-left edge of the penalty area that was saved by Hounds goalkeeper Danny Vitiello. It wasn't until midway through the half that the hosts threatened as Peters headed over the crossbar from a corner kick on the left by Kenardo Forbes.

That chance should have served as a warning for the Red Bulls II, and shortly after Russell Cicerone couldn't quite squeeze a finish on target after a weaving along the byline in the right side of the penalty area the hosts took the lead. With Forbes delivering from the right, Peters established his position perfectly to head into the left corner of the net.
