New York Red Bulls II fell to Memphis 901 FC 2-1 on Wednesday, August 3, at MSU Soccer Park.
Memphis struck first in the 18th minute after Chris Allan sprung Jeremy Kelly for a breakaway, who took a low shot after a 40-yard run to open the scoring. The visitors doubled their advantage in the 70th minute, with Phillip Goodrum heading in a free kick that was served in by Aaron Malloy.
Red Bulls II cut the lead in half in the 88th minute. Steven Sserwadda slipped a perfectly placed through ball to Jordan Adebayo-Smith, who went in untouched and placed a low shot into the back of the net.
Red Bulls Academy products Davi Alexandre and Erick Ruiz made their professional debuts, becoming the sixth and seventh Academy players to make their debut this year.
