Peter Stroud signed to homegrown deal

The New York Red Bulls have signed Duke University midfielder and Chester, NJ native Peter Stroud to a three-year MLS Homegrown contract with options for 2026 and 2027, the club announced today. Stroud joins New York after spending the last three seasons at Duke University and was named as a MAC Hermann Trophy finalist this year.
"We are very happy to sign Peter to a homegrown contract," said Sporting Director Denis Hamlett. "Peter is a talented midfielder that has demonstrated great success at both collegiate and academy levels, and we are very delighted to have him at our club."
Stroud, 20, made 55 appearances for the Blue Devils over the last three seasons. He registered six goals and 12 assists in his collegiate career. Stroud was named ACC Midfielder of the Year twice and is the first player in ACC history to win it in back-to-back years. The Chester, NJ native has earned All-ACC First Team honors twice, United Soccer Coaches All-America First Team, All-South Region First Team twice and was named Duke's Most Valuable Player for the 2020 season. The midfielder was named the No. 1 prospect by USL League Two in May. Stroud helped lead Duke to the National Quarterfinals of the 2022 College Cup this season.
"Peter has shown us many great qualities on and off the field," said Head Coach Gerhard Struber. "He is an exciting young talent, and we are really looking forward to having him on our roster for next season."
Stroud played two seasons at West Ham United in England, where he featured for their U-18 and U-23 sides. He made his debut for West Ham at 16-years-old in a 1-0 victory over Swansea. Prior to West Ham, Stroud was a member of New York Red Bulls Academy and played for the Red Bulls U-23's, where he made 10 appearances and tallied one assist. He has featured for the United States Youth National teams, including the U-15's and U-17's, where he has made 30 appearances. Stroud is the brother of former New York Red Bulls player Jared Stroud.
