The season is not over yet... theoretically. There is a scenario that Metro somehow wins the majority of the seven games it has left... Don't laugh! It's possible!

Of course, to win games, a team actually has to score goals, and that has been problematic, to say the least. At least they weren't shutout tonight, scoring early to go up in Philly, and then...

And then, a Philly answer, an ejection before the half, and absolute misery in the second, as the Worms came out X:1 winners. Note: we're writing this before the game is over. That X, currently a 4, might become a larger number by the time it ends.

So, yeah, Metro opened the scoring in the 11th minute, after Andres Reyes made a run up the field and sent a low ball from the right flank into the box to an unmarked Omir Fernandez. The initial shot was blocked, but the rebound went straight back to Fernandez, and he snuck one it at the near post.

Carlos Coronel made a couple of early close-range saves, but Philly kept applying the pressure, and the Metro defense looked due to break. In the 29th, a bad Coronel punch off a corner kick left the ball with Jakob Glesnes, who did not miss.

Both Sean Nealis and Reyes got early yellows, and Nealis' turned into a red in the 44th minute after a handball outside the penalty area. The Worms then scored what looked to be the go-ahead goal in injury time, but it was ruled out by VAR. They ended up not needing it.

They did not need it because the entire Metro could could be summed up by a play early in the second half. A perfect Cameron Harper goalmouth cross went through the entire penalty area and not one Metro attacker was close to running onto it. That's the season in a nutshell.

Philly scored in 57th off a free kick, then a minute later to make it academic. The fourth came in the 76th, and that was it, because the final whistle just sounded, and we can fill that X above with a 4.

The season is over. Nothing else is possible.
