Follow in the footsteps of Martin Klinger!
January 13, 2003 (Official Press Release)
The MetroStars announced today that the team will hold open tryouts for local players aged 17 and older on Saturday, February 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET in the bubble at Giants Stadium.
The tryouts, which will be held under the watchful eyes of MetroStars Head Coach Bob Bradley's staff, are designed to determine a player's ability level and potential to play on the professional level.
Interested players must first register for the tryouts online at
MetroStars.com, or in person from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET (Monday to Friday only, excluding January 20) at the team's front office in Secaucus, New Jersey.
The tryouts will help the MetroStars identify possible talent for its reserve team, MetroStars Black, which plays in the competitive New Jersey Champions League. Former MetroStars Black players Rodrigo Faria and Martin Klinger later went on to play for the MetroStars.
Players on the reserve team are evaluated by the MetroStars staff daily giving them a great opportunity to best showcase their talents and earn a spot on the first team.
