Scored with the Jesus look, but not on the field

Williams, Paule, Balboa set to depart
January 26, 2003
It looks like the end of the line for Andy Williams, Ross Paule, and Marcelo Balboa with the MetroStars. The league did not renew their contracts with the trio, cutting them loose. Although it is possible they might be back in a Metro uniform at a lower salary, that seems quite unlikely at this point.
Williams led the Metros with 13 assists in 19 games after coming over in the huge trade with New England. With Mamadou Diallo and Ted Chronopoulos already gone, the was the last remaining participant. Paule scored 2 goals in 26 games and struggled in the defensive midfield role. Balboa played all of 6 minutes, the last 6 of the season, although his Jesus look scored some points with the fans.
