Metros depart for Argentina

The MetroStars departed today for two weeks of preseason training in Argentina. MetroStars Head Coach Bob Bradley will lead the team to Buenos Aires to prepare to tackle local competition in preparation for the upcoming 2003 MLS season. In Argentina, the team will face legendary Boca Juniors on Wednesday, March 19. More scrimmage information will be released in the future as it becomes available from preseason camp. The trip will provide Bradley more opportunities to continue the process of rebuilding the Metros.
Recently acquired midfielder Jeff Matteo and defender Chris Leitch will join the team in Argentina. The duo was acquired by the Metros from the Columbus Crew yesterday in a trade for the rights to midfielder Ross Paule.

MetroStars second all-time leading scorer Clint Mathis and midfielder Mark Lisi will not make the trip due to injuries. Mathis is rehabilitating from a hernia procedure performed on February 25. Lisi has been sidelined by a stress fracture in his right ankle.
