Clark, LeBlanc score to beat Huracan, 2:0
March 25, 2003 (Official Game Summary)
The MetroStars defeated Argentina's Club Atlético Huracán, 2-0, today at Estadio Tomas Adolfo Duco in Buenos Aires, Argentina. MetroStars rookies Ricardo Clark and Jacob LeBlanc tallied to give the team its second straight win on its Argentina preseason tour.
"We are continuing to improve," said MetroStars Head Coach Bob Bradley. "We are taking advantage of these games to get fitter and better organized as a team. Ricardo scored a good goal, played well and is working himself quickly into the team."
In the 10th minute, preseason invitee Sergio Baez pounced on a rebound on the left side of the box and sent in a high cross. Clark leaped over the defense and nodded a shot past Huracán goalkeeper Andujar, putting the Metros up, 1-0.
The MetroStars compounded Huracan's woes in the 34th minute. The Metros' 18-year-old forward Mike Magee dribbled through the Huracán defense and raced into the box. The Chicago native found Clark in the center with a pass and his U.S. U-20 teammate quickly avoided a defender and laid off a pass to LeBlanc. The Virginia product blasted a one-timed shot into the net to extend the MetroStars lead, 2-0. Bradley selected all three of these
players in the 2003 MLS SuperDraft last January in Kansas City.
