After taking a 3:0 lead and then withstanding a late flurry by the Burn, the Metros held on to win their second game of the year, 3:2. Clint Mathis scored one of the most amazing goals you'll ever see, but the yellow card bug bit again as Alex Comas will miss the next game after getting two yellows.
For the fourth straight game, the Metros scored first after the much-maligned Petter Villegas slotted home his first goal of the season off assists from Mathis and Comas in the 22nd minute. The Metros then doubled their lead ten minutes after, as Mark Chung took a Tab Ramos feed to put a bending ball past Matt Jordan.
Mathis made it 3:0 in the 59th minute, after an incredible run which started in the Metro half. Steaming past four Dallas defenders, he blasted a ball past Jordan to give the Metros what seemed an insurmountable lead.
Dallas narrowed that lead in the 71st minute on a goal by Richard Farrer after Tim Howard made a judgment mistake. The Metros then got a penalty kick opportunity, but Mark Chung was denied from the spot. The Metros, now down to ten men after Comas' ejection, held off for the rest of the game. The game ended 3:2 after Steve Jolley's handball in the box in injury time lead to Jorge Rodriguez's penalty kick goal.
Lineup: Howard, Perez, Petke, Jolley, Chung, Shak, Williams, Villegas, Ramos, Mathis, Comas. Subs: Faria, Beskovic.
