Amado Guevara made his long-awaited debut, but it was Jaime Moreno who scored the first Metro goal of the season. The penalty kick gave the Metros a 1:1 tie with LA for their first point under Bob Bradley. Moreno's goal game late in the first half after Joey DiGiamarino was brought down in the box by an LA defender.

Guevara replaced Jacob LeBlanc in the lineup, with the only other change from opening day becoming the insertion of Chris Leitch for Craig Ziadie at right back. And it was Leitch who can be faulted for Los Angeles' goal in the 20th minute, as he failed to trap the ball, with Cobi "who's your dentist" Jones eventually knocking it in the Metro net.

After the goal, the Metros took over control of the match for long stretches of time. Guevara showed instances of individual brilliance, with LA defenders often needing to hack him down to stop him. Moreno's PK in the 42nd tied the game, and the Metros had two excellent chances to win it in the second half. First, the off-balanced Clint Mathis failed to control the ball off a Guevara pass deep in the box. Second, substitute John Wolyniec chipped the ball just over the net.

The teams went into overtime, with the best chance of the extra session belonging to LA. After a corner kick, the ball was cleared off the line by Richie Williams.

The more said about the play of Ricardo Clark in the midfield, the better. The kid will become special.

The less said about the Metros pandering to the Korean community, the better.

Lineup: Howard, DiGiamarino, Jolley, Pope, Leitch, Clark, Williams, Guevara, Mathis, Magee, Moreno. Subs: Ziadie, Wolyniec.
