Just when you though, what in the world can Clint do to top himself, he goes out and amazes us once again. Wow. Un-f---ing-believable. Three goals, three amazing goals, two on incredible bending shots and one on a header. His second hat trick as a Metro. Metros 4, KC 1.
Bla bla bla KC controlled the play early, some guy named Kerry Zavagnin (sounds familiar) scores, 1:0, Metros look like crap. Then the ref (the worst ref in the league, Brian Hall, who just missed a blatant PK on a Petter Villegas take down) awards the Metros a free kick right outside the KC box, a free kick that Mathis bends past the diving Fat Tony Meola (sounds familiar again) for his first of the match.
16 minutes later, now in the 32nd, he takes a through ball from an inspired Tab Ramos and bends another one past Meola. Fat Tony never saw it coming. It didn't look like it was gonna go in, until it did. Such an amazing bend on the ball. Incredible. 2:1 Metros.
Early in the second half Clint heads in a corner from Ramos to make it 3:1, marking Mathis' second hat trick as a Metro, and the Metros' fourth hat trick ever. With the score already academic, Adolfo Valencia adds one a few minutes later. Clint leaves the field with ten minutes left in the game, his legend growing with every match...
Clint Mathis. Best American ever? YES!
