The MetroStars played to a 1-1 draw with Kansas City today in a scrimmage at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. The 40-minute game marked the second match of the preseason for the MetroStars who are entering their second week of training in Bradenton.
At the 10-minute mark Kansas City scored the opening goal when Diego Walsh used great skill to bring the ball into the MetroStars 18-yard box and rocket a shot that found its way into Zach Wells' net.
Throughout the next 30-minutes of the first half Michael Bradley and Amado Guevara worked as a great team in the MetroStars midfield, providing many quality scoring opportunities for the Metros.
The second half of the contest saw many changes in both the MetroStars and Wizards' lineups. Despite the numerous substitutions, the Metros were able to sustain good flow in their offensive attack, and in the closing minutes of the game the attacking nature paid off when Mike Nugent was able to scored the game-tying goal. Nugent was set up for the goal, when Johnny Torres played a ball through the Wizards' defensive line that found an open Nugent, who did well to put the ball in the back of Bo Oshoniyi's net.
