Mike Nugent, who played in three games for the MetroStars, retired today at the age of 24. Nugent, a developmental player last year, scored on his first touch as a Metro in the 4-0 Open Cup drubbing of Mid-Michigan. His only other playing time came in the meaningless last game of the regular season and as a late sub in the last playoff game. Although he led the Metros in preseason goals with three, it looks like he could just not compete with the five forwards ahead of him.
