The MetroStars tied South Korean first division club Taejon FC, 1-1, Friday afternoon in a scrimmage played at the Trois soccer fields in Setubal, Portugal. The scrimmage, played with regulation time and unlimited substitutions, gives the MetroStars three wins and one draw on their 2001 TAP Air Portugal Preseason Tour.

The MetroStars got on the scoreboard in the 70th minute. Alex Comas won a loose ball in the center circle, and sent a pass to Mark Semioli, who carried the ball straight up the midfield. Semioli managed to draw the defenders to him, leaving Tab Ramos open for a pass, which he easily converted into the lower left corner of the goal for the game's first score.

The South Koreans pressured the ball looking for their first goal, which came three minutes from time. One of their midfielders broke loose down the left flank, and managed to send a cross into the box for a header and game-tying goal for a 1-1 draw.
