Valencia off Injured Reserve list
June 11, 2001 (Official Press Release)
MetroStars forward Adolfo Valencia was taken off the Injured Reserve List this afternoon and will be available to play this Wednesday night when the team travels to face DC United at RFK Stadium at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Valencia, 34, missed four league games and the friendly against Bayern Munich after surgery to repair a slight tear of the medial meniscus in his right knee. The Colombian striker has two goals and one assist in five games this season.
Midfielder Billy Walsh may be taken off the IR as soon as tomorrow, pending some final tests on his right foot. Walsh has been on the injured list all season after suffering a right foot stress fracture during preseason.
In other news, for the second time this season, the MetroStars called up forward Cordt Weinstein from the Long Island Rough Riders. Weinstein, 29, will be on the travel squad for the game at DC United.
