Another magnificent performance from Tim Howard could not halt the Metros winless streak, as they dropped one to LA, 2:0. The Metros are now 0-4-2 on the road and also 0-4-2 in their last six games, having scored only two goals in that span. Mathisless. Lifeless. Spiritless. Ballless. These are your MetroStars.
On perhaps the only bright side, Tim Howard came up big once again, stopping Sasha "is a girl's name" Victorine on two breakaways and making a string of fantastic saves. The Metros attack could not get anything going, as the so-called "forwards" Alex Comas, Adolfo Valencia, Rodrigo Faria, and Cordt Weinstein could not get a shot off. But just as the Metros were looking to escape with one point, in the 85th minute Cobi Jones took the ball through the Metro defense, passed it off to Luis Hernandez, who blasted it past Howard, who had no chance. A minute later, Hernandez got his second one, with the referee missing a clear offside call.
Nick, Octavio. This can't go on, Clint Mathis or no Clint Mathis. We need CHANGES. NOW.
Lineup: Howard, Perez, Petke, Jolley, Hernandez, Chung, Williams, Alvarez, Ramos, Comas, Valencia. Subs: Faria, Semioli, Weinstein.
