Awful Metros get whacked out of Dallas, 3:0

The Dallas Burn, the team the MetroStars so dominated recently, reversed the field this time, killing the Metros in Dallas, 3:0. The anemic Metros could not put together anything offensively, with the invisible Martin Klinger and the crooked-eyed Rodrigo Faria combining for an incredibly lifeless forward tandem. And the rest of the team wasn't much better.
After some early pressure by the Metros, Dallas started to control the run of play, and in the 25th minute, Antonio Martinez, who had an excellent game, took the ball down the left side past the tracking-back Adolfo Valencia and passed the ball through the box and past the ever-conscious Billy Walsh to Joselito Vaca, who easily made it 1:0. Nine minutes later, a short corner kick eventually found the head of an unmarked Jason Kreis after the infinitely alert Billy Walsh failed to go forward on an offside trap. 2:0 Dallas.
The Metros were reduced to ten men soon afterwards as Mike Petke was showing his second yellow, with the first one earlier in the game being rather unwarranted after a Martinez dive. But with ten or eleven, it would not matter. Midway through the second half, the teenage Edward Johnson sped by the gazzelesque Walsh, who then even made it easier by missing a last-gasp tackle. 3:0 Dallas.
Ross Paule became the 104th player in Metro history by entering the game as a sub in the second half.
