Media Day with Marvell Wynne
March 28, 2006
MetroFanatic: Marvell, there were some reports out of training camp that you weren't playing well. Can you confirm that?
Marvell Wynne: Early on, I wasn't playing my best, I can say that. I was really nervous, a lot of pressure on me, but now I think I'm playing really well, getting used to it, so we'll see.
MF: It was also said that you're super fast, unstoppable.
MW: I wouldn't say I'm unstoppable, but I really like to use my speed for defensive and offensive purposes.
MF: Are you comfortable in a three-back situation?
MW: It's taking a lot to adapt. Usually, I like playing with four in the back, so I can go forward and come back. But it's taking a lot, you gotta talk a lot more, so I'm getting more comfortable with it.
MF: Is there any indication if the team is gonna be playing with three or four in the back?
MW: Maybe it depends on the forwards' formation, we like to adjust depending on what they're doing. If they have two guys forward, we might play with two in the back. If they have one guy, we might play three in the back.
MF: So would you say there's a big transition from the college game and the youth national teams?
MW: Yeah, you gotta be a lot quicker, you gotta have a lot better attacks, you gotta be smarter on the ball. A lot different, and I gotta change the way I play a little bit. I can see myself getting better, so it's all good.
