Late last year, a 4:1 loss to DC Scum cost Bob Bradley his job. Today, just two days after a vote of confidence from the club's new owners, could it cost Mo Johnston his? For there was nothing positive from the smacking at the hands of DC, with complete domination on every area of the field and on the scoreboard. At least the freezing rain kept many fans from seeing this debacle in person.

Jean-Philippe Peguero got a start just a day after being acquired and just hours since arriving by plane; he played up front next to Edson Buddle as Youri Djorkaeff slid behind the two. Jeff Parke's mid-week injury prevented him from making a start, as Metro was forced into a three-man back line. The other change from last week was the insertion of Mike Magee at right midfield for the terrible-so-far Peter Canero.

DC dominated most of the game through the first half, as Metro failed to hold possession for anything longer than a few seconds. The defense held strong until the 41st minute, when a poor Marvell Wynne clearance was pounced on by Alecko Eskandarian, who slammed it home past Tony Meola.

And the floodgates opened in the second half. First Eskandarian, slicing through Metro defense (oh, was Parke missed!), and then Facundo Erpen on a long blast into the upper left corner that Tony Meola hesitated on, extending the Scum lead to 3:0. Metro could do... nothing until the dying minutes. And even when Djorkaeff made the scoreline a bit more respectable with four minutes left in regulation, Jamil Walker made it worse again, soon after.

So after four games, Metro is winless for the first time in their history. It's early in the season, it's early, it's early... Right?

Lineup: Meola, Mendes, Graham, Wynne, O'Rourke, Henderson, Magee, Guevara, Djorkaeff, Peguero, Buddle. Subs: Stammler.
