The Red Bulls completed the weekend sweep of CD Chivas USA on Sunday morning, beating the Western Conference opponent's reserve side 3-1. Josmer Altidore, Blake Camp and Mike Magee all tallied goals for the Red Bulls in the match.
The Red Bulls took an early 1-0 lead in the second minute of the match when midfielder Magee volleyed a Altidore cross in the box. Magee's volley easily beat Chivas' goalkeeper Preston Burpo and put the Red Bulls up.
The home squad built on their lead in the 31st minute when rookies Camp and Joe Vide combined to tally the Red Bulls' second goal. The play started when Vide hit a corner into the box which was headed back out to the corner by Red Bulls' call-up Andre Schmid. Vide one-timed the bounding ball back into the box where Camp elevated to send a strong header to the near post, beating Burpo.
Just two minutes later Chivas answered when Matt Taylor blasted a shot from the top of the 18-yard box. The goal brought the halftime score to 2-1.
The Red Bulls continued their attack when Jordan Cila played a free kick which Altidore was able to skillfully head into the corner of the net. The free kick was set up when Jerrod Laventure was taken down from behind 35 yards from the Chivas goal. The goal put the score at 3-1, where it ended.
