Jemmott, Peart, Payne cut
March 26, 2001
The MetroStars made their league-mandated cuts today, releasing three players they drafted in the 2001 SuperDraft. Gone are third-round pick defender/midfielder Kerwyn Jemmott, fifth-round pick forward O'Neal Peart, and sixth-round pick goalkeeper Russell Payne. Also released was defender Tony Soto. The cuts mean that forwards Rodrigo Faria and Martin Klinger are the only new Metros that came through the draft. Klinger is a member of Project-40 and therefore does not count towards the 18-man roster.
