At the bubble with Jon Conway
February 23, 2007
MetroFanatic: We just heard that Nick Rimando got traded. So you're staying with the team?
Jon Conway: Yes, that's what it looks like.
MF: For the past couple of weeks there have been rumors that you're going to Toronto. How did you spend those last weeks?
JC: Preparing to start the season. No matter where I was going to be, still have to prepare accordingly. That's what my mindset was.
MF: Did you care if you stayed with this team?
JC: I didn't know what was up, and I didn't really care one way or the other. If it was here or not, I was still getting ready to go and play the season somewhere.
MF: You ended last season as the starter, and then they brought in Ronald Waterreus to be the #1 guy. How do you feel about that?
JC: No difference than last year when I was here. 36-year-old ex-international. We'll see how that goes.
MF: So you think you have enough in you to unseat him?
JC: I have enough in me to unseat anybody in this league, it doesn't matter who or where. No different for me than this time here last year.
MF: It has been said that Mo Johnston is a big fan of yours. What are your feelings on Mo?
JC: I like Mo. I had a great time when he was here. He's a good manager. I wish him the best of luck this year with his new job.
