Reserves tie Duke, 1:1

The Red Bulls reserves drew with Duke University 1-1 on Sunday at Blackbaud Stadium in Daniel Island, South Carolina moving their preseason record to 5-1-5. Dane Richards scored the game's first goal in the third minute after stripping a Duke defender of the ball and finishing the ensuing breakaway. Mike Vedeira equalized in the 78th minute on a one-time shot from the right side of the penalty area off a throw-in.
Hunter Freeman made his Red Bulls debut, playing the full 90 minutes. He was acquired by N.Y. on Friday from the Colorado Rapids for a pair of draft picks.
Nineteen-year-old trialist Danny Stott played the first half. Stott, a product of the Bolton Wanderers' youth system in the English Premiership, flew with the team to Charleston on Friday.
