Laventure's hat-trick crushes Dallas reserves
April 15, 2007 (Official Game Summary)
Powered by three goals from Jerrod Laventure and a 30-yard blast from Marvell Wynne, the New York Red Bulls Reserve Team defeated FC Dallas, 4-1, in a torrential downpour at Giants Stadium on Sunday.
The Red Bulls wasted no time getting on the board in the 6th minute when Sal Caccavale slotted a ball through to Laventure, who put it by FC Dallas's goalkeeper Dario Sala and giving the Bulls a 1-0 lead. Ten minutes later, the Red Bulls doubled their lead when Wynne collected a ball about 30-yards-out and lofted a shot to the back post beating the outstretched Sala.
In the 37th minute, midfielder Joe Vide threaded a pass through the Dallas defensive line to forward John Wolyniec, who was taken down by defender Eric Lewis in the penalty box resulting in a penalty kick. Laventure calmly converted the penalty to the back right post, giving the Red Bulls a commanding 3-0 lead.
Dominic Oduro got FC Dallas on the board just before the half. The Hoops put numbers forward as the ball ping ponged thru the Red Bulls penalty area before falling to the feet of Oduro, who slotted it past goalkeeper Danny Cepero in the 43rd minute.
Laventure finished off the scoring in the 51st minute when he was on the receiving end of a Sinisa Ubiparipovic cross, heading it past substitute goalkeeper Ray Burse.
