Ten Best: Metro midfielders (update)
December 30, 2007
Since we first looked at the ten best midfielders in Metro history, an update has to be made. For descriptions of the initial top ten, see the original article.
10) Dave van den Bergh, 2007- Arguably the best crosser of the ball in Metro history, the Dutchman scored two goals in eight assists in his first season with the team. The consummate professional; when called upon, he even played left back.
9) Dema Kovalenko, 2006- The hate that we had for him as an opponent stopped the moment he put on a New York jersey. Kovalenko if ferocious in the middle of the field, but can also play on the wings, and has covered in defense when necessary. He is driven by only one goal: winning. If only all of his teammates felt the same way.
8) Jim Rooney, 1998-99
7) Ricardo Clark, 2003-04
6) Mark Chung, 1999-2001
5) Mark Lisi, 2002-06
4) Eddie Gaven, 2003-05
3) Tab Ramos, 1996-2002
2) Roberto Donadoni, 1996-97
1) Amado Guevara, 2003-06
