The New York Red Bull Reserves played to a 2-2 draw against the Long Island Rough Riders of the PDL this morning at Montclair State University.
Hunter Freeman opened up the scoring for the Red Bulls on a set piece, heading home a corner kick to the back post. Sinisa Ubiparipovic earned the assist on the 20th minute tally.
The score remained 1-0 in favor of New York into the second interval, until the Red Bulls doubled their lead in the 63rd minute. Chris Megaloudis took a feed from guest player Adauto Neto into space, deked the goalkeeper, and calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net.
The Rough Riders halved their deficit in the 69th minute, as guest and Red Bull U18 player Cesar Blacido found the back of the net. Long Island knotted the score at 2-2 in the 82nd minute as Michael Todd's blast from the top of the 18 went just under the crossbar.
Caleb Patterson-Sewell tallied five saves in net for the Red Bulls. New York rookie David Roth played the second half in his first game action since sustaining a knee injury during the preseason.
