Media Day with Andrew Boyens
March 16, 2009
MetroFanatic: Andrew, you're from New Zealand, which we all know is a part of Australia, so I got a few questions about your home country... (takes out a list of questions) Is Crocodile Dundee still a hero in your homeland?
Andrew Boyens: Is who? Sorry?
MF: Crocodile Dundee.
AB: Ummmm... no. Did you say that New Zealand was connected to Australia?
MF: It's part of Australia, right?
AB: That is not correct.
MF: Really? Are you sure?
AB: Yeah.
MF: Well, that's no good... (Rips up list of questions. Background laughter from surrounding players: Nick Zimmerman, Jon Conway, John Wolyniec.)
AB: Seriously? You thought it was part of Australia?
MF: No.
AB: (still not sure) I can roll with it though.
MF: Well, I had a great question about Mel Gibson...
AB: Who put you up to this?
MF: Just something I cooked up...
AB: I think one of the boys put you up to that.
MF: No.
AB: Well, Russell Crowe I'll take. Everyone says he's Australian, but that's not true. He was born in a little place in New Zealand. So, Russell Crowe, I'll take, although he's gone a little downhill. Maybe if he keeps going down, I'll let the Australians have him.
MF: Flight of the Conchords?
AB: Definitely will claim that. They actually got a concert coming up next month, trying to get tickets for it.
MF: So there are three New Zealanders in New York City now?
AB: Maybe four. When I came over, I might have been the fourth one. Obviously, Jemaine, Bret, Murray, and myself. But if there's one thing I won't roll with, it's being called Australian.
