Media Day with Seth Stammler
March 16, 2009
MetroFanatic: Seth, so you're now the longest-tenured member of the team. How does it feel, after all these years?
Seth Stammler: It's good. 2004 seems like a long time ago, but every season seems to go quicker and quicker. Here we are now, going in my sixth year. I'm hapy to have been here my whole career, and look forward to more good years.
MF: Why does it seem to go quicker and quicker, your advancing old age?
SS: Oh, no! Being that the offseason is about one and a half weeks, it seems that the season just keeps going and going, they run into each other.
MF: You missed the entire playoff run last year, and the team actually got successful for a change.
SS: Yeah, I think they got rid of the thing that was cursing them...
MF: But you're still on the team...
SS: Yeah, I talked my way back on.
MF: So really, you're putting your own interests above the team interests?
SS: (laughs) Yeah, right, I am. Well, you gotta get paid, right?
MF: You've played all over the field. Where are you gonna be this year? Don't say, where the coach wants me. Where do YOU want to be?
SS: I enjoy the defensive midfield. The few drills I've taken part in, that's where I've been. All signs say defensive midfield. Obviously, things can change as the season progresses.
MF: It seems that Mo Johnston had a vital influence on your career.
SS: Every time I see him, I want to thank him for telling me to go in and kick at Steve Ralston during that New England game.
