Media Day with Jeremy Hall
March 16, 2009
MetroFanatic: Jeremy, you were drafted as a left midfielder, and now all indications are that you are a right back...
Jeremy Hall: Yeah, I didn't think I was gonna be coming in as a right back, but I'm willing to help out the team in any way they need. Coach sees me as a right back in this league, and I'll embrace the position.
MF: So you see yourself as a right back now?
JH: I see myself as a right back now! Just trying to learn the position more. I feel comfortable there, there's still lots to learn. It's been a couple of months playing there, the older guys have been helping me out a lot. I have to understand that I'm a defender first, and have to defend, go forward at the right time, and try to help in the attack when needed.
MF: So let's follow this... There was Dave van den Bergh, left midfielder... Gone. They draft you... left midfielder. Seems to fill the spot, right? Then, a trade for Khano Smith, left midfielder! Is that a slight on your abilities, or...?
JH: No, I don't think so. I'm not trying to look at it like that. Khano Smith is an experienced left midfielder, and Red Bull got an opportunity to get a good player. Khano Smith has done well there. Coach drafted me for a reason, he seems potential in me, and I'm grateful for that, to give me an opportunity to be a part of this organization.
MF: It seems that the coach is saying, only left-footed players on the left. And you're obviously right-footed.
JH: Right.
MF: Can you learn to use your left foot?
JH: (laughs) I can use my left foot pretty well! I'm not trying to look at it like that. I know what you're talking about, but I don't think that's the case. Coach knows what he's talking about.
MF: So it's in coach we trust at this point?
JH: In coach we trust, in coach we trust.
