Dufty waived, Kandji receives asylum
April 14, 2009
Alec Dufty, who just days ago was the Metro hero after coming in eight minutes into the match and shutting out Houston, has been released to open up roster space for Alfredo Pacheco.
"I was waived the morning after the game," Dufty told SoccerByIves. "It sucked but they explained it to me. I understand and now I'm just up in the air, waiting to hear from someone else and figure out where I can go from here."
In other news, Macoumba Kandji has received his asylum status, Red Bull Reader reports. He will no longer count as an international player, and will be able to travel to matches outside the US (Toronto and CONCACAF Champions League).
