Road trip to hell begins with 2:0 loss to DC

No, Metro did not play terrible. But does it really matter how well they played? At the end, it's the results that matter. Another game, another loss, another road shutout. This time, 2:0 to DC Scum. Their third loss in as many games this year to the hated rivals. Or can you really call them rivals when the rivalry is as one-sided as this one?
Why not try the 3-5-2, Juan Carlos Osorio had a thought before the game. And the 3-5-2 they tried. Kevin Goldthwaite was pushed to the left, Mike Petke stayed in the middle, and Carlos Mendes entered at the right. Danleigh Borman started at left midfield, Jeremy Hall moved to the right, and Jorge Rojas, back from his suspension, started in central midfield as Mac Kandji was held out with an injury.
The game started with DC finding a lot of room on the Metro flanks, getting behind Borman and Hall. But the game settled, and Metro had its own share of offense, holding the ball for long stretches, be it with absent results. Then, in the 36th minute, a quick DC rush, defenders slipping on the wet turf, a cross in front of the goal, and former(?) crackhead Santino Quaranta made it 1:0. Metro almost equalized soon after, but Seth Stammler's perfect through ball to an unmarked Borman in the box was met with a poor touch from the South African.
In the second half, Jon Conway made a couple of big saves, one on a long Christian Gomez shot, and the other from point-blank range, with his face, to keep Metro within one. Metro's chances were far and between, until the latter portion of the half. Halftime sub Nick Zimmerman, making his league debut, drilled a long shot that was saved. Juan Pablo Angel hit a free kick just over the bar. And then, late in the match, Angel ran onto the ball, hitting the shot into the corner only to be denied by the fingertips of Scum's Josh Wicks.
Then, in injury time, DC got a breakaway, Gomez dove over an outstretched Conway, and fat bastard(?) Jaime Moreno made it 2:0 from the spot.
We'd like to think that it will get better... we just don't see it happening.
The road trip to Hell is just beginning.
