Ernst Oebster? Who? The Red Bull Salzburg left winger, who was a transfer target for RBNY in 2008. A year ago, the "sister team" balked at loaning out the midfielder to MLS; they wanted him on their first team. What Salzburg got from Oebster was nine games, an injury, and problems between Oebster and the coach. He currently off the Salzburg roster.

So, yesterday Red Bulls Reader reported that Oebster is training with Metro. Today, the NY Post is calling it a trial. Since he is no longer Salzburg's property, there should be less obstacles in signing him. And Oebster told the Post that he "really wants to come to New York". But we heard that before.
