Red Bull New York announced that defender Kevin Goldthwaite underwent successful surgery in Munich, Germany, today to repair a sports hernia. The surgery was performed by Dr. Ulrike Muschaweck, who used the Minimal Repair Technique -- a procedure Muschaweck developed and exclusively performs. Goldthwaite is expected to miss 2-3 weeks.

The list of Metro players who have suffered a hernia injury from 2003 on include Clint Mathis, Mike Magee, Eddie Gaven, Chris Leitch, Ante Razov, Mike Ueltschey, Marvell Wynne, Mark Lisi (twice), Taylor Graham, Carlos Mendes (twice), Markus Schopp, Dave van den Bergh, and now Goldthwaite.
